The Corowa Distillery in New South Wales, Australia, was established in 2010 by two locals who saw the potential in a rundown flour mill. Purchased for just one dollar, the mill was transformed into a distillery, putting the small town on the map. This release from That Boutique-y Whisky Company's Return to Oz collection features the historic moment of the mill's purchase on the label, as well as a rather ominous funnel-spider. The single malt inside was distilled from locally grown barley and matured for four years in casks previously used to hold Australian tawny wine, a type of fortified wine similar to Port. Located in the heart of the Rutherglen wine region, Corowa has access to some exceptional casks.
