Matured in a range of casks in a variety of sizes from quarter size casks to full size butts, Laphroaig 28 Year Old was aged for 28 long old years and what came out the other side was a dream. All of the whisky held in various casks was married together in sherry casks to spend a 12 year finishing period before it was drawn and bottled at 44.4% ABV. This lovely expression comes in a white wooden presentation box with a hinged lid for added sophistication. On the nose, this dram is rich with peaty notes and some golden syrup, toasted dates and Scottish heather. The palate is sweeter with griddled pears and barbecued meat as well as some old leather and pepper. All round, this is a wonderfully deep and rich dram that should not be missed.
