GlenAllachie 2013 - 11 Year Old - Red Wine Hogshead - Cask #9339

Tonight’s dram takes me (virtually) back to one of my most-favorite Scotch distilleries, GlenAllachie, a special single-cask release of Red Wine Hogshead. Cask #9339 opens with maraschino cherries, tart cranberries, sweet red apples, and honeycomb; followed by spicy ginger root, cinnamon, charred orange peel, toasted almonds, and hazelnuts; finishing with semi-ripe peaches, butterscotch, raspberries, and frothy cocoa with marshmallows. At nearly 62% ABV, the flavors are vibrant and alive, with thick-clingy legs and full mouthfeel delivering a flavor explosion throughout the perfectly balanced palate.
