The second in GlenAllachie's Masters of Wood series has been finished in casks that were previously part of traditional solera systems. These casks held oloroso and pedro ximenez sherry during their journey towards maturation for up to 55 years, infusing them with rich sherry flavour. The cask influence on GlenAllachie's whisky, previously matured in bourbon casks, adds rich layers of fruit and spice to this beautifully structured single malt.
Tasting notes from the producer:
Nose: Brandied plum, intense mocha and honeycomb, with caramel snaps, molasses tart and rich cocoa.
Taste: Plum syrup, treacle and warmed heather honey, followed by black cherries, mocha and brandied orchard fruits, with crystalised cinnamon and ginger.
