Tonight’s dram takes me (virtually) back to the Miltonduff distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland for an 11-year-old from Cask #5472, selected and bottled by Infrequent Flyers. It opens with tart red cherries, tangy fresh raw cranberries, juicy peaches, fresh apricots, and a squeeze of lemon; followed by vanilla, ground cinnamon, spicy ginger root, black pepper, and lightly-toasted oak; finishing with dark red grape skins, freeze-dried strawberries, prunes, and bitter dark chocolate. At 59.4% ABV, it packs a punch with big bold flavors. The thick-clingy legs and velvety full-mouthfeel deliver a long balanced dried-fruit scrumptious finish.
Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
