There are few words that can do justice to the oldest whisky ever released, but we’ll give it a go. This peerless single malt from Mortlach was distilled all the way back in 1939 – the year World War Two erupted – and distilled in a single first fill sherry butt for 75 years before emerging in 2015. If you do manage to get your hands on one of just 100 bottles to be released you’ll be stunned at how fresh this dram is, extraordinarily complex but not woody by any means and with notes of toffee most evident
