This single cask single malt showcases Speyside distillery Tormore at its very essence. The whisky enjoyed its entire decade long maturation in a new toasted American oak barrel which imbued the spirit with deep vanillins, complimenting the distillery character. A highly limited release as part of independent bottler Elixir Distillers' Blueprint series. Notes of vanilla and toasted coconut.

Tonight’s dram takes me (virtually) to the Speyside region of Scotland to the picturesque Tormore distillery, just a mile from the River Spey.
The 10-year-old #03 from the Blueprint series, Toasted Barrels, opens with sweet red apples, quickly turning to tart green apples, lemon zest, light honey, and ripe pears, with a whisp of smoke in the background; followed by fresh mint leaves, vanilla, lightly-toasted oak, rye spiciness, white pepper, and toasted coconut; finishing with toffee, roasted almonds, charred oak, and light cocoa powder, with a truffle-like earthiness late in the finish. This is a unique and very interesting dram, from a beautiful distillery. I will definitely be looking for the #01 and #02 of the Blueprint series.
Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
