Aberlour

Aberlour is the seventh best-selling Scotch single malt – quite an achievement when considering the fierce competition it has in the region! Aberlour literally means ‘the mouth of the chattering burn’ in Gaelic – which is apt considering the distillery sits right on the Lour Burn in the village of the same name.

The spring water which is used to make Aberlour single malt has always been sought-after; it takes an incredible journey over masses of pink granite down to the slopes of the village, where was once used to baptise local chiefs! The water has helped Aberlour to develop a distinctive taste all of its own, which is truly unique and a beloved favourite of many whisky lovers. The distillery has also seen its fair share of trauma – it was rebuilt twice due to massive fire damage, before being rescued by James Fleming, a banker who relocated to a safer spot to protect one of the world’s finest single malts.
