Absolut is one of the world’s most famous and popular vodka brands – and a brand like that requires a distillery to match! Based in Ahus, Sweden, Absolut’s distillery produces 600,000 litres of vodka every single day – a process which also requires 600,000 tonnes of winter wheat every day. This process is known as ‘continuous distillation’ – a sequence which Ellis Smith, the founder of Absolut, introduced back in 1879.
Using grains from Skane’s rolling fields of winter wheat to produce vodka of the highest quality, the Absolut distillery has gone from providing delicious bottles of vodka to the local town, to being one of the world’s most exclusive alcoholic brands, up there with Smirnoff and Bacardi.
