Compass Box
Compass Box is the modern venture of John Glaser, previously a Marketing Director at Johnnie Walker. This independent bottler and blender has a strong work ethic and focuses on creating a craftsman-life boutique product that has none of the airs of mass production whatsoever. There’s no chill-filtering, no colourings added – just simple, straightforward single malts.
Compass Box has been very successful since its launch just fifteen years ago. In 2008, Hedonism – a marriage of as many as fifteen different grain whiskies – won World’s Best Grain Whisky at the World Whisky Awards, and John Glaser has gone on to be named Innovator Of The Year in Whisky Magazine. This shows just how far he’s come as an independent distillery owner – he originally started out promoting his brand by simply handing out business cards labelling himself a ‘Whisky Zealot’.
