A release that encapsulates Speyside distiller Tamdhu's emphasis on maturing malt whisky solely in former sherry casks, the Batch Strength No 8 is bottled at cask strength. Its utilization of Oloroso butts infuses it with characteristic rich dried fruit and fig flavours, along with nutty undertones and a complex and captivating finish.

Tonight’s dram takes me (virtually) back to the Tamdhu distillery in Moray, Scotland for their 8th batch of cask strength single malt. It opens with honeycomb, juicy blackberries, sweet black cherries, tart cranberries, plump raisins, and fresh apricots; followed by vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate, crushed black pepper, spicy ginger, and charred oak; finishing with caramel, dates, red plums, candied lemon peel, and walnut toffee. Every sip reveals additional flavors – a mastery of complexity, while very smooth. The thick-clingy legs and heavy-cream full-mouthfeel deliver a long sweet-spicy-fruity finish that is very satisfying. Not since Batch 001 has Tamdhu turned-out a top-notch single malt – this is it!
Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
