Enjoying a huge increase in popularity in modern times, Jägermeister’s history is less of the shots mixed with an energy drink and more of a hunting heritage. Based in Wolfenbüttel, Germany, Jägermeister is produced at Krauterkellerei Distillery with only the finest natural ingredients making it past the master distiller’s inspections.

The original recipe was formulated by father & son Wilhelm and Curt Mast in 1934. Curt was working for his fathers wine-vinegar business and loved to experiment with herbal extracts when he blended a mix of 56 herbs and spices to create the unique Jägermeister liquer. This mixture is then matured in 445 ‘Pfalzerwald’ oak barrels to breath and age for a whole year.


A keen hunter, Curt dedicated this recipe to the honourable traditions of all hunters, and specifically the toast every hunt would start and end with. It’s name, when translated to English means ‘Hunting Master’, with the hunting heritage further signified by the iconic Saint Hubertus stag head which adorns the label.
