For the 2023 Special Releases Diageo have finished Lagavulin in casks that previously held Don Julio Añejo tequila. The tequila finishing casks have brought indelible layers of bright, herbal smoke and dark plum fruit to the distillery's notoriously smoky whisky.

Really really good. As someone who tried not to ride into the whisky craze too hard this knocked my socks off, soft, suple yet with a ripper of a body that made me wake twice in the night to sample and check I wasn’t dreaming.
