Edition 16.4 represents Octomore's latest showcase of locally grown Islay barley, this time matured in a combination of bourbon barrels and French virgin oak casks.  Expect subtle, earthy notes and rich smoke from the heavily peated barley, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, toasted oak and vanilla from the bourbon casks, and peppery notes from the French virgin oak.

It's hard to find fault with any Octomore, but especially a .4, the only thing I could say, is I do still like the 10.4 the most, but this is like 10.4's more refined cousin, less Central Texas BBQ, and more campfire in the woods eating cooked spiced apples. Many of the notes are the same and quite wonderful, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this bottle again.
