With a time honoured legacy, William Larue Weller is somewhat of a legend in the drinks industry. Born in 1825, he was one of the early whiskey innovators in Kentucky. Having developed his original bourbon recipe with wheat, as opposed to rye in the mash bill, he created a mild, gentle and smooth taste. Opening a wholesale liquor business in the 1840s, after serving with the Louisville Brigade, he used the slogan Honest Whiskey at an Honest Price in order to draw customers in.
