Boasted by the distillery as “the whisky drinker’s whisky”, Springbank was established almost 200 years ago, and 100% of the production has remained in the famous Scottish whisky region of Campbeltown throughout its existence. Springbank Scotch is now overseen by the fifth generation of the Mitchell family, who rebuilt the distillery where this revered spirit is produced in 2004. Beyond its rich history, Springbank is immensely popular for its flavour profile. Specific notes can vary by age and vintage, but sweet and fruity notes are a constant. As the only Scotch brand that conducts its entire whisky-making process on-site, Springbank has a signature smoky touch that carries through to every bottle. Springbank 1989 - Symington’s Choice: Aged for an impressive 35 years, this is an incredibly rare, well-aged single malt harking from Campbeltown gem, Springbank distillery. Fully matured in a single refill sherry butt, the cask yielded only 345 exceptional bottles. Specially selected as part of Signatory Vintage's Symington's Choice range. Springbank 1968 - Chieftain’s: Bottled in 2008 after 40 years in an oloroso sherry butt, this is a Springbank that fans would trek for miles and miles to try. It's brought to us by respected indie bottler Ian Macleod, and only 398 bottles are available.
What makes Springbank Scotch so valuable?
As with many whisky brands that accrue value, Springbank Scotch is highly coveted and sought after in the market because of its scarcity. As one of the very few spirits that handles all of the production in-house, it’s also a point of difference among other Scotch distilleries. Taking this process completely in-house also means Springbank’s production rate is slower than its contemporaries, once again bringing the rarity value back into the equation.
