The Bunnahabhain distillery was founded in 1881 on the island of Islay – one of Scotland’s most prestigious regions for whisky-making. The name itself means ‘mouth of the river’, and the location of the distillery could not have been more apt – it overlooks the Sound of Islay, on the sheltered north coast of the island. Bunnahabhain has set itself apart from other Islay whiskies in that it is a much milder single malt, Smooth and easy to drink.

The single malt produced here has always been successful – among connoisseurs and those new to whisky - and production now still stands at 2.5m litres every year. 21,000 of the casks created each year are held at the distillery for maturation – once it’s done, some will be used for Bunnahabhain single malt, while the rest will be sent to other distilleries.
